Our Staff

Hi My name is Carla Russo, my husband and I have two beautiful young daughters and our residents of Southington. I have always dreamed of owning my own center, and now it is all coming together and we are so excited to meet all our new families. Here is a little background on myself .

I have worked with children from a very young age. I started volunteering at a center in my town at the age of 15, helping a little boy out that broke his arm. Shortly after that summer I was hired as a part time employee, and worked with the center through out high school and College. I attended Saint Joseph College in West Hartford, and majored in Social Work and minored in child study. Right after College I continued working part time at the center, and took a full time job at a special education school . At the special education school I worked with a variety of ages and students with disabilities and behavior problems. Working at the daycare and special education school, I learned many different techniques with working with many students that come from different dynamics, and backgrounds. My passion for working with children continued to grow, I decided to return to school for my masters in special education. Shortly after enrolling in school I found out I was pregnant with my first daughter, and I ended up putting that plan on hold to start to raise my family. I became a stay at home mother . As a stay at home mother I joined mother groups at the library, park and other activities. I than had my second, and was home with her until the age of 2. My oldest has entered K and my youngest was much more interested in playing with others her age than with myself. J I figured it was a good time to get back to my original plan, and get back to school. As I searched for centers for my youngest I struggled with finding that right center that felt warm and inviting. And thought to myself why can’t I follow my dream and open my own center. So here I am now with My Little Rascals, I want this center to grow and become a family friendly environment. I want every parent to drop off their child and go to work and know that their child is in a warm and educational environment where they can grow and learn at their own pace.I am so excited and look forward to making this center a part of our Southington community.

Ebanie- Assistant Director/ Tottling Turtles Teacher
Hello my name is Ebanie! I have two beautiful children; a 19 year old boy and a 17 year old girl. I am married to a wonderful man that I have been with for 20 years. I have been working with children my whole life. I am the oldest out of my siblings, so I’ve always had that motherly love for each child that comes into my life. I love and care for your children each day I work with them. It is a pleasure and I enjoy watching them grow into little people.

 Melissa- Wiggling Worms Teacher

Hi my name is Melissa, I am a mother of two adult children and a proud grandma of 3 little boys. The oldest is 7 and the youngest are 4 year old twins.  I am a Southington High School graduate and a resident of Southington.I started my career in childcare at the age of 10, babysitting the neighborhood kids as well as my nephews and cousins. After graduating High School, I began working for Creative Child Care Center (in association with UCONN Health Center) in Farmington, CT. After I became pregnant with my oldest child, I explored a few different career paths. There always seemed to be something missing, I didn’t feel as though I was making a difference. I didn’t feel the passion for the work I was doing. So in 1990 I quit my fulltime job and started the process of becoming a licensed home daycare provider. With the love and support of my family and friends, I opened the doors of my home as Tender Loving Care (TLC) Daycare. For 13 years, I cared for children ranging in age from 6 weeks to 12 years. I always treated my daycare children as if they were my own. I loved them dearly and still do. I have maintained wonderful relationships with many of the parents and now grown children.  In 2004, I had to make a decision to close the doors to TLC daycare in order to care for my ailing father.  In transition and for the following 5 years, I stayed a private nanny for one of my families and their daughter. In my years as a home daycare provider, I was honored and privileged to care for a wonderful little boy diagnosed with cerebral palsy and epilepsy. Not only did I watch him grow, I grew with him. I am forever grateful for all that I learned while having him in my home.Since the birth of my oldest grandchild, I have had the opportunity to be a stay-at-home grandma.  It has been the greatest experience of all.  From developing their speech to learning their ABC’s, reading, writing and now sports, I have been there to support and encourage them. Now, as my youngest grandchildren venture into all day school, I feel in my heart the necessity to work with other young children, to love, support and encourage them as I have with my children and grandchildren.  I cannot think of a better way to spend my day, than with your beautiful children.I look forward to meeting you!

Andrea- Wiggling Worms Teacher
I was born and raised in Southington where I still reside. I am married with 3 children Rachel, Scotty and Randy who are grown and all in their 30’s. Two are married and one is getting married at the end of the year. They have given us three granddaughters and three grandsons who range in age from almost 8 to almost 17 and who give us so much joy. For as long as I can remember I have loved being around children. I started out babysitting as a teenager and at 17 was married and my husband Scott and I started our own family.  When our youngest went to kindergarten I started a daycare out of our home. For the next 26 yrs I had many children of all ages come thru my doors along with my own grandchildren all of whom I loved and treated as if they were my own. I know it’s hard for parents to place their children in a strangers arms so I made my home as welcoming as possible to put their minds at ease. Many came as infants and stayed till they aged out. I have made many lasting friendships with their parents and had the pleasure of having the daughter of one of my old daycare kids come to me. When our sons started flag football my husband and I got involved with the league. We started out as coach and team mom and medic to eventually being the presidents of the Mens Board of Directors and Women’s Auxiliary. When our youngest joined cub scouts I along with a friend were his troops den mothers. As our grandchildren entered school I volunteered to go read in their classrooms and help out where I could. Five years ago I started going to Lincoln School in New Britain where I have mentored the same little boy from 1st grade to 5th grade which he is in right now. About six months ago I decided to start phasing out my daycare and go out of the house to work. I thought long and hard about doing this. Every job I looked at I wasn’t happy with and I knew it was because I still wanted to work with kids. So…with My Little Rascals opening in my hometown it was a blessing. As soon as I heard about it I knew that was where I wanted to work!!…my life has always been surrounded with kids and I look forward to continuing to do this.

Zuleyka- Tottling Turtles Teacher
My name is Zuleyka. I am currently a sophomore in college and love children! I started off babysitting at a young age when i was thirteen. Watching my younger siblings and cousins made me realize how much I loved children. One of my goals in life is to become an educator and be able to teach others. I am currently attending Southern Connecticut State University to pursue a degree in Elementary Education. As I started working here I loved each and every second of it. I love watching them grow, learn, and interact with other children. It has taught me so much about them! While working here I have learned to know each and every child and their behavior. My family and I are very active. We enjoy hiking, running, playing volleyball and of course soccer whenever we have the chance with family and friends!
